Renew Communities is looking for a Worship Pastor who will help lead the church into meaningful encounters with God through worship. This pastor will shape and lead weekly gatherings while developing teams and leaders who embody Renew’s disciple-making culture. The role works closely with the Lead Pastor to create gatherings that are biblically rich, Spirit-led, and congregation-forming. Musically, Renew leans toward a modern worship expression influenced by movements like Bethel Music, Passion, Hillsong Worship, and UpperRoom, while prioritizing congregational participation over performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging, Christ-centered weekly worship gatherings in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
- Plan worship environments that are biblically rich, theologically grounded, and Spirit-led.
- Create gatherings that invite participation rather than performance.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd musicians, vocalists, and production volunteers.
- Build sustainable volunteer systems for scheduling, onboarding, and development.
- Develop future worship leaders and invest in the church’s leadership pipeline.
- Provide pastoral care and discipleship for members of the worship team.
- Collaborate with communications, tech, and operations to ensure cohesive Sunday gatherings.
- Steward the worship ministry budget and maintain excellence appropriate to the church’s culture.
- Model spiritual maturity, humility, and emotional health within the team.
Requirements
- Humble Shepherd: Leads from a place of humility, not ego. This person builds trust, cares well for people, and understands that spiritual leadership and relational integrity matter just as much as what happens on stage.
- Missional Mindset: Sees worship as a launching point, not the finish line. Aligns fully with the conviction that the church is the people of God on mission, and leads in a way that fuels disciple-making—not just great gatherings.
- Leader Developer: Builds and multiplies people. Invests in volunteers, raises up future leaders, and refuses to carry everything themselves—creating a culture where others are equipped and released.
- Musically Strong: Brings strong, confident musical leadership that people want to follow. Capable of leading both high-energy praise and intimate, Spirit-led moments while maintaining a culture of excellence without performance. The bar is high at Renew.
- High Integrity: Does what they say they’re going to do. Follows through, communicates clearly, and lives with consistency on and off the platform—building credibility in a season where trust matters deeply.
Why We Love This Opportunity
I love this opportunity because Renew Communities is awesome! I loved the time I spent there with the team. It’s an incredibly humble group that has a strong desire to see people live out their faith. The music level is really high here. More than anything, they need someone to lead and develop their team. To grow more leaders while still leading great services. They care about worship, but they care even more about forming disciples and sending people on mission. They’re also 15 years into a healthy church story and still thinking about multiplication, church planting, and developing leaders — which makes this a meaningful place to lead.
About Renew Communities
Renew Communities exists to see whole communities renewed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we follow Jesus, practice the ways of Jesus, and teach others to do the same. For the past 15 years, the church has focused on developing disciples, raising up leaders, and multiplying ministry throughout Northeast Ohio. Their heart has always been to build a church that helps people genuinely follow Jesus and live out their faith in everyday life.
The ministry strategy is simple and intentional: Gather, Grow, Go. The church gathers together to worship and encounter God, grows as disciples of Jesus, and then goes back into everyday life to live on mission as the people of God. This framework shapes how the church organizes ministries, builds teams, and develops leaders.
Renew Communities is located in Berea, Ohio, a welcoming college town just outside Cleveland and home to Baldwin Wallace University. The area blends small-town community life with the cultural opportunities of a larger city. Families are drawn to the area for its affordability, strong schools, outdoor spaces, and relational community — creating meaningful opportunities for the church to invest deeply in neighborhoods and people.
